Air Intake

Hey guys, I want to put a cold air intake on my 5th gen. Max & I've talked to a lot of people about it before proceeding with any purchases. I was told not to buy the really expensive kits from makers like K&N (although the filter itself is fine), so I'm not exactly sure what to do? Do I just buy the different parts and build it from scratch? Also, if anybody has one that they don'e need and would be interested in selling, I'm open to that as well. Thanks!

This topic has been covered many times. Use the search function above. Click on advanced search. Type in the word "intake", and search in the 5th Gen section and All Motor section. You will find lots of information to answer your question.

I just had a very helpful topic about it.

Do not get an injen or k&n. Just get a jwt pop charger for 2000-03 maxima. I got it from the nismo shop. It's what most people recommend and it's probably your best option.

intake

JWT pop charger or the cheapest way is to convert your OEM airbox to Ghetto airbox by placing 4 holes (1inch diameter) on top of the Ailr filter Holder, with
K&N filter. Air intake will only give you a nice sound on high rpm. You need to combine it with headers or Y-pipe with gutted precat and exhaust catback tol gain horsepower. Ideally the best first modification is to installed a quality exhaust catback (megans, SRS or cattman if available.) More air inside the engine needs a modified exhaust.

Berk knock off with a shorty mid pipe (this one is a 6"L x 3"D - I also have a 10"L x 3"D) with MAF adapter plate, BPI velocity stack and a 6" AEM dry flow cone filter ... couple of silicone connectors and a few T clamps and you will be good go
