rattling exhaust pipe

My exhaust pipe in the center is rattling and it looks like the bushing aand its holder rusted off. Is there any easy way to fix or do I have to order a new bushing/holder and get it welded on.

Is it the resonator pipe or the y-pipe? You can always go to your local auto parts store and pick up a aftermarket hanger/bracket.

It happened to my Max too a couple years ago, just a steel strap tie made it tight and quiet. hope it works on yours too.

Come on Man just take it to a muffler shop and have them weld you a support hook on your system!

same problem here, i assume you mean an indy shop. i could see midas/meineke etc saying that they only sell you the whole resonator assembly and banging you out for $400 in the process.

Our downtown mechanic just kind of rigged something up for a repair for the banging pipe a few years back for cheap since it wasn't really a huge issue, and they just attached a steel hose clamp to it. It's been about 3 years, and I heard a snap after I drove over an elevated intersection too quickly with a bounce and I heard a snap (forgot that the clamp was there) and started hearing noise again. Fixed it last month with another. When I attached the new one, I noticed I still had a part of the hook attached to the rubber holder still attached to the car, but the connection to the pipe was broken, so I just fashioned the ring around that. It took some adjusting to get it to fit just right without rattling. I noticed if I tightened it too much, it will be too close to the metal around it and clang even worse.

I used one of these (or one like it). Can get them pretty much anywhere.
