For the past 2 weeks now I've noticed that my needle on my Tach is bouncing all over the place, but the engine rpm are stable. it just the needle bouncing all over the place. last night it was dancing to my music, when i turned the radio off it went back to normal while stopped at a light.

as i started driving again with music now off, the needle was all over the place again. I've searched but came up with nothing pointing me in the direction for my 02 Maxima. any one else have any similar problem/ solution?

BTW its a 6 speed manual

 

wow almost 24 hours later and after 54 or so readers, not one person experienced this on their 5.5! ill keep searching, maybe ill get lucky.

I assume it's either your cluster or speed sensor.

 

Your Alty is starting to go bad

 

your tach is bouncy around, it possible the cluster gone bad or you definitely got an electrical issue

 

it's not a constant occurrence it's just once in awhile if i drive it hard, but since the speed limit here in NYC went down to 25mph, i just cuuise and the jumping isn't showing up right now, someone mentioned my alternator going bad?
