Washer size for door sag fix?
Washer size for door sag fix?
I tried installing two different sizes of washers on my lower door hinge but the washers bent both times. The washers are large enough to fit over the threads, but it seems when I start to tighten the nut, apparently the washers cant slip over the base of the screw/bolt.
Anyone else realize they need larger washers? Or am I doing something wrong?

the door sags?! I never seen that happens, my Maxima is over almost 14 yrs old and never had an issue, still close and a nice solid thunk just like the day I bought her brand new. Must been a lot of slamming the door or bent the hell out of it.
My drivers door sagged (or became sagged due to unknown circumstances), years ago I did the same thing as the OP after reading a thread about it. I don't remember the size of the washers I used, because I probably just grabbed some outta the toolbox. OP just get some slightly bigger washers, it doesn't have to be precise. I will say it has worked like a charm for about 5 years now.
Not sure what causes it but I've noticed this year mine is starting to rub against the latch. Maybe the previous owner let it fly open in a wind storm or two. I know it's a big problem with Altima's as well.
I had a sagging driver side door for a few years, and I recently decided to take it to a local body shop for a paint repair.
I mentioned to the shop that my door was sagging, and they fixed it right then and there for free with a metal bar. It took two of them, but they just bent it back up.
Perhaps this wasn't the 'ideal' repair, but it has held up ever since, and they did an amazing repair... so I'll credit them.
So perhaps brute force is an option?

I was gonna try that until the shop pried mine back.

It's very common with Maximas. My '02 I35 is in excellent condition with 58k miles with a slight door sag. How many miles does your Max have?
It has 81k miles on the car, just can't help but wonder what cause to sag. I seen a lot of fords and GM car sags since their doors are heavier than Nissan and they use door Pin and bushing to remedy the sagging door, but Nissan doesn't have pins just Hinges.
I have been trying to fix mt sag for a while. I gave up. But I want or fix it. I just can't seem or understand how to install a washer on Hinge. How can. I get the hinges on when irs like bolted closed or whatever. I'm confused on how yu guys are doing this. Where ans what are taking apart an s I believe the washer was 1/8" from what I read

Thanks man. Yah I ran across this thread recently and saw that they cut a slit in the washers to slide them in. Which makes sense. Cause I couldn't figure out how they got the washers in without doing something like that.
