Mass Air Flow Sensor----Cheap ?

Hey Buds,

Why is this MAF so cheap?
Most of the parts dealers want about 250-275 for the part.
But this one....only wants $60?

Obviously there must be a difference in Quality...
Anyone Know?

~Thanks!

PS. A lot of smart guys here on the forum. Appreciate the input. I try to share what i've learned.

Most if not all members on the forum suggest using only OEM replacement parts. Mafs are a pretty important part so, if the one you're looking at isn't OEM I'd stay away.

Really? Didn't know that. Is because the 5.5's are drive by wire as opposed to the 5th's still having an actual throttle cable?

I still remember when my MAF died on my 2001 Maxima. I went to the local dealer who wanted $450. I had read that the MAF should could apx $80 to $90 dollars, so I kept questioning the parts man if he was quoting me the correct part. Then, after talking with Dave B. at St. Point Nissan, I found that, the older Nissan's can use either part. If you buy the expensive part with the thermistor, the older Nissan simply doesn't use it (check out the connector to the MAF, you'll see one of the pins on the connector is not populated.) As mentioned here, the newer Nissan incorporated the thermistor into the sensor... seems like way to much money for a simple thermistor.

As mentioned here, I've always replaced mine with Nissan OEM for apx $80 to $90 (I've had to replace twice over the years).

Just be gentle with the clips on the new MAF as they don't require a great deal of force in order to secure the thermistor.

I bought mine off Egay for 29 bucks shipped, new. Been in for a year or so now. Runs perfect.

Oh, it's a 2002 5.5 gen with IAT in it.

they have to be reman, since you will never find a brand spanking new one unless you do, it's usually two to three times the price over the reman.
