HVAC question fresh air vent

i have a question about something i want to try. i have a 2003 with digital climate control and i just hate it when the fresh air vent is open, everything stinks on my daily commute so i always have the Air recirculation button pressed to close it.

when replacing the cabin air filter i saw the fresh air vent and the motor that controls it. i was thinking i could press the recirc button to close the vent and disconnect the motor so it wouldnt open anymore. i dont know if anything bad can come from this? but it would be great to never smell old cars and truck exhaust. i like the dash vent and feet setting on the fan. lemme know what you guys think. good idea or bad idea.

Perhaps cleaning every thing in there(steam, vacuum etc....)(remove it all and clean it really good "CS_AR"style: instead of just changing filter,

Although my stench wasn't exhaust it was more like mildew eww....are you sure you don't have an exhaust leak?

Be careful with comments like this. I just might get a swollen head!

But back to the original subject. There would not be any negative effects to having the recirculate door motor unplugged. You have to unplug the motor while the ignition is on and the recirculate button is pressed. Otherwise, the recirculate mode is cancelled when the ignition is turned off.
