^ I concur. Pretty sure that's why my car stinks at WOT, despite the ypipe and gutted cat and intake/exhaust and all. You'd think it breathes so much better and would be more lean but nope it still dumps too much fuel at WOT.

I need a tune...

Oh ok I stand corrected.

So an safc tune would be in order after gutting the last pre cat. Ugh, this exhaust tuning is always a wormhole...lol

I noticed today that it IS in fact right after slowing down from WOT that I smell the fumes in the cabin...lol

Same here man, same here.

I dont mind the smell but a tune would definitely be good for the car plus would make some more power.

You have to weld a hanger on the Y pipe if it's missing.

My exhaust is actually unsupported between my y pipe and the muffler hangers..lol. It's bolted so tight though it's like one piece. If I get the resonator welded in I'll have em fab a hanger if they think it needs one..

*correction..the b pipe has a hanger...lol

Yeah I can see one problem though...it always takes the guys 2-3 tries to get a good power run in third without the car downshifting...lol

So you do have a hangar stud welded on the Ypipe right? Cause the OEM exhaust has the hangar mount @ the ypipe then the next hangar mount is after the resonator!

Nope...but I will have one put on by the exhaust guy if he thinks I need one when I get the glass pack welded in. The y pipe came with a nice hanger, but the way it's supposed to work is virtually useless. Thankfully the back of the y pipe is bolted straight up to the manifold so it's really solid. Not much movement at all from the test pipe to the next hanger back.

Just to clear up possible confusion. I have either a thrush or cherrybomb glasspack as the resonator. There are no louvers inside it... Guaranteed. Straight-thru design with perforated core tube. im running no muffler, stock ypipe with non-gutted precats, and main cat...sounds throaty, no rasp, but drone between 1800 and 2200 rpms. Partly due to the idiot who welded my exhaust.

The drone comes from a straight through muffler design. If you have a chambered muffler it won't drone much at all

Yeah the oem muffler is actually really nice. It was modeled off of the gtr muffler according to literature.

Sorry for bump from the past but..
I had my brother drive my max while I drove his car to hear what my exhaust sounded like and boy.. I didn't realize how raspy my baby sounded until he WOT it.

I believe the stock muffler inlet is 2"? How is it that 2.5" piping works well with the 2" muffler?

(Address performance question then the rasp please )

Generally, the bigger the resonator or muffler, the less the rasp. The OEM mufflers are giant, so that would probably eliminate all of the rasp, but It will also quiet it down quite a bit. If you like your exhaust loud, then you might want to look in to getting a bigger resonator instead of the OEM muffler.

Thanks for the validation Isaac, was looking at the carlonator thread and decided I'll get the same one just with the 2.5" in/out

I'm scared LMAO! Mine gets extremely loud going up hills in the 2200-2750 rpm range... To the point where music goes bye-bye if it was at a decent level before the hill.

I'm probably going to be disappointed but there's only one way to figure it out.
