2k1 Engine in 2k Max EGR question/help

Hello ive been lurking for quite a while on the forums about this question and cant seem to get an answer so i figured I would finally ask.

Recently I bought a 2001 engine for my 2000 max due to a rod knock and have encountered a question/problem with the EGR.

I know the EGR on the 2001 was blocked from factory. Would you guys suggest swapping over all the egr stuff from the 2000 engine unto the 2001 engine? Cause if i didnt the connector that would connect to the egr on the wiring harness wouldnt have anything to connect to and I dont want it to throw a code. Would there be other stuff I would have to swap over if i even needed to?

Any support is helpful thank you!

Please, for the love of god don't put the EGR in that engine. It's a horrible POS that clogs and causes problems...

I'm so happy to have a late model 2000 without EGR.

I assume you don't have the ECU from the 2001 car? I would find any late 2000/2001 non-egr ECU and use that instead.

No unfortunately I do not. Is that a potential path I could go into? Maybe I could find the ECU at my local pick a part. It would be nice if I could just swap out the the ecu but then I would have to go to the dealer and get into a mess with the ignition and the keys and other things im assuming?

Yeah thats what I meant exactly, try to find one at pick n pull.

Unfortunately, yes you will have to get the keys programmed at the dealer. But to me that's way better than putting a piece of crap EGR in your car.

Darn ok...well ive been reading of people being able to delete the EGR and just leaving on the solenoid attached to the wiring harness without throwing a code. I will take pics of the new engine and the egr and see can be done.

Hey hologramks ...if ...no...when you get the ecu...the dealer is gonna rape you to get keys programmed ....a Locksmith can do it but i bet I'll be more than $100...so here's option #3 https://maxima.org/forums/5th-genera...ey-reprog.html

Do you need emissions testing?

Wait, hang on... can't you use your existing 2000 ECU?
