whats this picture of?
I just picked up an 03 and I was trying to diagnose an oil leak witch im thinking is the oil cooler oring but while I was looking around I noticed something that looks like an oil seal pushed in behind crank pulley but it looks bigger then the crankshaft so im not sure its that. im going to remove the pulley but im wondering if anyone can tell by this pic. you can kind of see how whatever it is sinks in just above arrow tip

it in the area of the main seal but it doesn't look like a main seal, it look like a big oring
as I look at diagrams and pictures im wondering if its the upper oil pan lip seal im seein, if no one knows I guess il know once I remove the pulley

That is most likely the front main seal, the front main is sometimes bigger than the crank because some have a metal ring wrapped in the seal that you have to use a tool to press onto the end of the crank.

Yes that is normal, my crankshaft looks like that, seem like part of it is the RTV for the upper oil pan gasket since there's no actual gasket for it, only the pan has the gasket, it sucks but true.
