USED Coils ? ? ?

Hey Buds,

There are few junk yards in my area and was wondering if purchasing Used Coils was a good idea ?

-I can get them for $10 piece
-New one's run about $75-$100

Not sure if this is a waste of time or not....

Is there anyway to Test a Spark Plug Coil ?

It's certainly not a bad idea. I'd rather buy used OEM coils than new aftermarkets. New OEMs are definitely not an option due to price as you mentioned.

Check FSM on how to test.

I wouldn't bother getting used ones. Just buy new hitachi ones from rockauto for $48. You can also find a coupon code online to save 5%.

I think you want to start around page EC-378 for coil testing.

This is for a 2000.

Hey Tom,

I think that is just the coil...not the stem. So...you would have to take apart the coil and reattach the stem.

Correct?
