A/C problem. Does not turn off at all. A/C light on at all times and stuck on max. L

Okay, so I have looked at the forums and can't really find a solution to my problem. Out of the blue yesterday afternoon my a/c when on full blast. Even if I put the switch to off or in any position really, it stays on max. I have manual controls, not auto climate btw. At first it would be on max on the off position and 3 and 4 position. On 2 it would just shut off. Then later just max at all times. Even when put to off. My biggest concern is that the A/C light is on at ALL TIMES. Which is really weird. So the A/C doesn't shut off? The a/c works which is good but the blower or a/c won't shut off. I'm going to switch out the resistor today in the afternoon but do you guys have any other suggestions? Maybe the actual blower motor? or the switch?

I also forgot to mention I have a spare switch laying around and switched it yesterday with no luck. And I have checked all fuses.

Thanks guys!

I've been reading around. Do you guys think it can maybe be the actual control unit in the dash? since the A/C won't shut off? Any help will be appreciated.

As soon as I get out of work I'm going to the junkyard and picking up a new control switch and resistor to see if it fixes anything.

Okay guys. Changed out the resistor with no luck. Changed with a brand new one (at least it looked new) I found in the junkyard. OEM Nissan too. Still no luck. I pulled the dash unit out and while I was playing with the cables, if I turn it a certain way it will shut the blower off completely but a/c is still on. I'm starting to think the actual head unit for the a/c controls is fried. What do you guys think?

I assume the compressor is still spinning. I have no idea about fixing it, but if you can't get it fixed soon, then I would just unplug the compressor so you don't keep running it nonstop.

I can make the compressor stop. But only if I put it in heat and press the a/c button. I've been doing thatvehenbim not using the a/c so it doesn't mess up the compressor. Other than that it'll always be running. I'm gonna buy a new control unit (dash unit) off eBay and see what's up.

If the a/c compressor is running all the time, then changing the blower motor resistor and the fan speed switch won't have any effect on that. It is probably the a/c control amplifier which is control panel in the dash with all the buttons.

I figured that's probably the problem, Dennis.
I ordered the part off an ebay junkyard. Looks in decent condition. I've searched the junkyards here in Miami and all the maxima's are already skeletons.

Hopefully all goes well! Thanks guys! I'll keep you guys updated.
