Trans seal leak 5th gen maxima

I tried searching but couldnt find much
Quick question to those that know

My car is leaking trans fluid thru axle seal
Its been leaking for a while
Now sometimes randomly will grind before going into 3rd or 4th gear. Not all the time just sometimes unless i wait like 4-5 seconds before shifting. So my question is ,is it because low trans fluid ? And 2nd. Is it safe to change/add gear oil to trans no matter how many miles i know in autos its tricky but how about manuals is it okay to add new gear oil ?

Thank you all (:

New gear oil is always ok as long as you use GL4.

Not sure about your grinding issue..could be the syncros, but IDK.

The axle seal is pretty straight forward.
Just don't tap it in too far.

Yeah. I might as well replace the axle
