Axle question before drop her more
Axle question before drop her more
I've decided I want to drop my 01' Maxima a little bit more but this time having little bit tires to tucking in the fender not too much though, just good enough to have no finger gaps at all. The fender have already been rolled up, thanks for warning me though.
I've heard people have issues with axle when your going slammed? How does this exactly affects that could you please explain?

You are more prone to axle problems when lowering because the the angle on the axles at the joints. They are designed for a specific angle and you change it anytime your raise or lower the car out of normal ride height. The more you Lowe the more prone to premature axle wear.
Be prepared to change them often if you go lower...the axles in these cars aren't very robust to begin with.

If you slam the car or lower it as you intend, the axles will be bending at the joints at a pretty extreme angle which wears them down quite quickly. Im actually considering going back to struts and springs because of this; while a low car is undeniably cleaner looking, its not very practical having to buy axles all the time, especially when the only axles on the market are very expensive OEM or cheapo reman'd. Correct me if im wrong but the cornering ability will also suffer if you lower it drastically, despite the commonly held belief that lower = better handling.
I still wont outright recomend not doing it anyways though, the end result is just too good looking :P
