Lost my key fob today but have the spare key. Would it be as simple as opening the door with the spare key and disable the siren? I doubt it.....

Why would the alarm go off?

 

1) buy replacement fob from eBay
2) DIY Program fob
3) open door with fob
4) profit ??????

 

unlocking it with the key won't set off the alarm. Unlocking it with the key disables the alarm just like the remote.

I believe the alarm will go off if you unlock it from inside after a certain amount of time being shut off and locked.

If the alarm does go off for any reason just lock and unlock it with the key to disable it.

 

This is also the guaranteed procedure for finding the lost remote so now you'll have two.
