VQ30 Engine Pull
Im Pulling the engine out of a Maxima and i am going to start to build it. just curious to see if theres any obstacles that i might encounter when doing this. any advise/ tips? Thanks Very Much hope to hear soon as i want to get this engine and tranny out ASAP. thanks!

Soak the carrier bearing and bolts (pass. CV) before attempting to remove them. They are usually oxidized in there hardcore. I've had to use punches and beat it out of the bearing before.
Do the same with the exhaust.
An impact wrench is invaluable for the large nuts/bolts.
I lift the engine at an angle and slip off the tranny, then pull it out from underneath. To install the tranny I have lifted it by a starter bolt or used a tranny jack (I love tranny jacks).
I never saw enough clearance to ever pull the motor and tranny through the top.
Two people make it easier, but I have done the 5.7 swap completely by myself and the only extra time added was dropping the motor in...without a leveler LOL

And also, did you remove the ECU? if so how? and where was it located in the car. i want to say its on the passengers side but im unsure.
