Trying to fix blown subwoofer?

On songs with heavy bass the sub makes this nasty rattling sound. Pretty sure it's blown. Would replacing the sub simply fix this problem?

There are other things in the trunk that can rattle with the bass. You can fold the seats down and crawl in the trunk while the music is playing. If you touch something that's vibrating it will stop. If it is the sub you'll know for sure.

I replaced mine with a kicker dual 2 ohm 8 inch sub thats free air capable. Used the stock amp but it wasn't very loud. So bought a 200watt rms amp and the stock system in my other one is still louder and hits harder(though this one drops better and cleaner) I am sooooooooo tempted just to buy another stock speaker and amp. Spent the money to have a system that doesn't sound as good as stock. Uhggggg

Someone posted some good info regarding a really good affordable aftermarket sub & amp a while back, either djfrestyl, ChirsGregg, CMax03 .. one of them, maybe someone else ... but if not try this before you buy stuff ..

But I agree, probably blown out of it's mind like mine.

i had that issue ^ and im not all that sure it sounded blown like the OP, it more or less just cut out when i had the relay sub problem.

i also did the dynomatt as housecor did in the seat belt recoil containers and rear deck and it sounds like the sub doubled in amplified power...

there were little rattles before but it never sounded blown through all that...

i find it hard that you could blow that sub, i am blasting ish max volume and still want more and feel the sub would be fine with more too
