P0430 whats the best aftermarket precat?

My car (2002 6MT) is throwing P0430 and my front pre-cat is rattling
which of the aftermarket alternatives is the best quality/price wise? pretty easy to replace?

Walker seems to be a trusted brand.

Best cat is no cat

I wouldn't drive it. It has already started doing damage. There's no point making it worse.

Depending on emission equipment and location, but probably 16362

The 16362.

The 82584 is the same cat but CARB approved for the folks like us whose state demands only CARB cats can be installed (and more expensive). Currently only New York and Cali.

Cool, I am in IL so the cheaper part works, as long as the quality is decent and will last a few more years

any of you that bought the walker part, did you have to buy any additional gaskets or hardware? is it pretty easy to replace?

I didn't put on a replacement precat (I had my stock ones gutted) but new gaskets were needed. From watching the guy, it was a PITA to take out and put back in so you may want to buy replacement bolts as well.

Hi I have a 6th gen maxima and my car threw a p0430 code up for bank 2 and I was just curious what would happen if I just cut the cats out and put some piping instead. I know it's illegal but just curious. Thanks

I'm running headers so basically it's the same thing. You need to get an o2 Sim or antifoulers for the secondary o2 so it won't throw a code

Since you have a 6th gen, just get some high flow pre cats.

6th gen looks easy to gut.

Stop spending money on worthless cats, please.

Fun fact: Looks like Nissan never actually got new cats for 6th gen. There's plenty of pics of them broken and clogging the Y pipe.

Is the WALKER 82584 a bank 2 replacement cat on a 2000 Max?

I don't think they are going to do much about a 13-16 year old car.

Question...the secondary O2, is that the one just after the bank 2 pre-cat?

I ask because I replaced that O2 sensor and it didn't clear the code, so would the anti-foulers be of any good?

Yes that is the 02 sensor right below the cat, I believe you have to use an antifouler, or extended 02 bung to get rid of the code.

Why not just replace it, its very easy to do, especially the front pre cat. You may just be able to keep the car for a few more years. Just a suggestion, not trying to tell u what to do.

He can just dump it out, it's IL. They give no ****s about emissions. If you're in one the few counties that requires testing, then a nonfouler solves it.
Yes, it will literally fall out when you turn it upside down lol.

I read this year they're not requiring testing for some b/c of the budget LOL.

Just wanted to know before i order if this is the correct size 02 sensor bung on ebay.http://www.ebay.com/itm/161119594890?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Yes, it's the right size. I do not know if having the other one drilled out will keep the code from popping. I (and everyone pretty much) leave it undrilled, so it's restricted.
I would buy a normal set at the auto parts store and use them with these. That way you get a set for each cat and have the restriction needed.

Use lots of anti-seize. These will rust quite a bit.

Oh ok so these just screw into the original 02 sensor holes right? And then you install the 02 sensor into the extended bung?

On a p0430 type code, what're the chances its actually just the 02 sensor going bad? My car as 150k miles and has the 0430 code. Is it more likely the 02 sensor or the cats or should I just replace both sensors and the cat just to be safe and not have to worry about it again any time soon?

Most likely to be bad pre cats at that mileage, especially if it's the year 02-03

Would it be both pre cats or would it just be the left (front) one for that specific bank? (it is an 03, unfortunately!)

Also, is there any chance any of you guys know the bolt sizes for the bolts that go from the manifold into the pre-cat as well as the bolts that go from the pre-cat into the y-pipe? While I'm at it I figured I might as well go ahead and replace all the bolts.

I'd have a similar question. 2k1 GLE auto, have the P0430 code. Will the Walker mate to the OEM exhaust as well?
