Rattling sound from rear of vehicle at highway speeds?

I recently noticed that at 75 mph and above, I can hear a light rattling sound coming from somewhere near the rear windshield. It sounds like it's something inside the car. I wonder if air is getting in from under the satellite radio antenna on the roof.

Has anyone else had this issue? It's most noticeable with the radio off. I haven't had a chance to investigate where it's exactly coming from yet, but it didn't do this when the car was new.

I thought maybe you'd gotten married and someone had tied tin cans to your rear bumper, but I guess not.

This sounds like a situation where you will need to have your wife/relative/friend/etc drive on an open road/freeway while you sit in the back seat and keep listening and pressing things and pushing things until something you do changes the noise slightly (or better yet, stops the noise). That should enable you to virtually pinpoint the problem.

Yeah agreed, just have to find the time to do that. Was hoping someone else had run into the issue and figured it out. On recent drives, I noticed it starts at about 60 mph but gets louder as I go faster....

Hi I realize this is an old thread but I just bought a 2016 maxima platinum and am having this EXACT same issue. Did you ever figure out what the problem was? Thanks

Rattling sound

I was at the dealer last month and he showed me two bars in the trunk right below the window and amp. Check that they are snapped into the bracket.

It took the dealer multiple tries to figure it out. And finally they had someone lay in the backseat and the trunk while driving on the highway. It turned out to be related to the fuel line recall not being done properly. Specifically, when they replaced the fuel line, they missed some sort of clip or bracket that held it in place. I was too busy at the time to complain, but their mistake cost me a lot of time and fuel.
