2003 GLE P0011 and P0021 codes!!!!!!
Hi guys as the title says I have a codes on my 03 last night, and cars is sluggish and the idles like @ss.Any help would be appreciated.I was thinking to just removed both cam sensors and maybe clean them?
Not very fun codes in my experience. Could be a couple things, like they actually are blocked OR it could be that the oil passages leading to them are filled with crud.
Go out and by some Seafoam, put HALF of it in the oil, let it run for a good 25 miles or longer depending on how its actually driving. Also buy some brake cleaner as you'll need it for the next step. Take BOTH actuators off and CLEAN THEM REALLY WELL. when you take them off you'll notice that they have little screens in the input portion of them. Now while they are off drain the oil. Take what's left of the brake cleaner and spray it into all of the passages leading to the actuators. Let all the crud drain out then take your oil and put ONE liter in without placing the drain plug back in to make sure all of the brake clean actually came out.
Fill the oil, and put the actuators back on. Clear the codes before starting the car.
These codes may also be caused by faulty cam/crank sensors or the actuators NOT actually working. While they are off you can test them by sending a 12 volt signal to one lead and grounding the other, you should hear an audible click. The steps that I have laid out is the cheapest but toughest route. You also can just replace all three sensors with OEM ones at will but it's a touch more expensive.
Also to note that whenever you do an oil change IF you do them yourself is to always buy ONE liter extra and do a small flush with clean oil after you've drained everything.

Ok thanks for your reply Brudface-today I will try to take them actuators out and clean(on a side note-you referred the actuators are the ones on the corner of the valve covers?)
