How to install LED load resistors in brake lights???

I'm trying to install some load resistors for my LED brake lights, and I'm having no success. Does anyone have any experience with installing these on a 5th gen?

I installed the resistor on one of my brake lights using the 3 wires that power the brake bulb. However, no combination of these 3 wires with the resistor works, as the dash light remains on, and the resistor doesn't heat up. All that I can think of is that I'm not using the correct wires, and I have no clue which ones I should be using.

The brake lights use a wire that is red with a black stripe inside the trunk. So if uou were using any other color wire, that was incorrect. You could consider going under the dash and using the wire on the brake light switch. This wire is a different colr than the trunk, it is red with a green stripe.

Maybe you didn't get the splice connectors to actually make a connection.

I was thinking that maybe the splice connectors were bad, they seem kinda cheap. But I definitely wasn't using a red wire with a black stripe so I'll have to look again tomorrow.
