A/c problem

Hey guys I have a 2002 maxima. Last summer I recharged my a/c system and it was working great and was told there are no leaks in the system . Now that it's getting warmer I turn on my a/c and it's blowing warm air and I check the compressor and it won't turn on. What could be the problem?

Thanks in advance

There is a pressure sensing switch for the refrigerant in the compressor. So if the refrigerant has leaked out, the compressor will not run. This is the most common problem.

Guess what happened on my 5.7 swap this winter b/c I reused the O rings... It didn't all leak out, but I have oil all over the compressor.

You definitely have a leak. The biggest misconception when it comes to a/c refridgerant that people think it "runs out" which is a myth. since the system stays in the a/c unit and should not "run out" only way it would is a leak or opening the a/c system. Same principle to a home refrigerator, ever see one that "run out of freon" that ran for decades at most. Only other thing is a compressor can fail due to lack of lubrication, a.k.a oil or just sitting there not running the a/c for a very very very long time cause to seized up.

A mechanic had checked for leaks and it didnt have any leaks and the a/c was working all summer and i normally turn the a/c on at times when it rains.

That was several months ago. Plus, everything shrinks with colder temps (a problem if the seals are near failure).

Get a set of gauges and check the pressure or see if he'll check it for free (only takes 30 secs).
