Penzoil platinum high mielage 5w30 or penzoil ultra platinum?
Im due for an oil change and trying to figure whats the best oil i should get for my 02 maxima it has 166k on the dash i hear tbe penzoil are really good for our motors I had royal purple but my motor burned it like crazy

Mobil 0w40, castrol 0w40, w/e group IV.
Also, I'm sure your precats are happy to be accelerating the burning.

I have been using Mobil 1 5W-30 for about 10 years, changing oil every 5,000 miles. I have no complaints. My car is running just fine, with no measurable oil consumption at 135k miles.
If you think there is better oil than the M1 5W-30 I am using, I would like to know. I am open-minded and willing to change but would like to know why you think M1 5W-30 is trash. (BTW, I am already planning to change to M1 0W-30).

5k miles is the most you'd want to run it and even then I doubt it's giving very good results. Castrol syn blend is probably better.
Check the Z thread of UOAs. EVERYONE quit using it. It's very subpar compared to real synthetics.
We were just talking about what oil to use. Switch.

so what are the pros and cons to switching to high mileage oil? i started changing my own oil now and started to think about switching to high mileage, i am at 230k as of today. used nothing but conventional up to this point.
is it worth it? will i see less burning? (cats have been gutted for 50k and were 100% intact when i gutted them) what are the cons? can i dump regular into it and mix it if in a pitch when replacing any burnt amounts inbetween OIC ?

i actually did an oil analysis with penz plat 10w30. 5k miles.
The oil itself had much more life left though.
so.... not the best oil or at least the vq is super hard on oil, or i need to go to a thicker oil, or a thinner W like a 5w.
idk, going to change brands next oil change and see if that protects the bearings better.

Lead is still a bit high for your Maxima,
but the good news is that it's steady.
If it shows poor bearing wear, at least it isn’t getting any worse.
Sometimes we find extra metal like this and it turns out to be normal
for that particular engine and how it's used,
so maybe that's the case for your Nissan.
We'll watch lead from here and let you know if it looks like trouble.
Potassium is low enough to show no coolant,
and silicon shows good air filtration at 15 ppm. No fuel was found.
The TBN was good at 2.7, but stick with 5k mile intervals to monitor bearing wear.

There are no significant cons that I am aware of.

lets see what they say about PP.
i saw a guy on that Z thread post an mutol sample that had crazy bearing wear and stopped when he changed oils.
hopefully, for me, our engines don't like PP.
