A-Piller Rattle (not on TSB)
A-Piller Rattle (not on TSB)
Is anybody experiencing a rattle on the driver's side A-Piller. There is a TSB referring to a squeak in that area due to the A-Piller and console coming into contact. The rattle I am referring to sounds like the VIN plate is rattling around...very metallic, but I confirmed this wasn't the case by holding the VIN plate still while the noise continued to occur. The sound becomes noticeable at around 20mph and increases exponentially at highway speeds.
Anybody? I have reached up and held the air vent, the speaker cover, the console, the plastic cover over the odo/speedo...can't figure out where its coming from.

I thought about that, except the stereo isn't on when I experience this...and if it was the tweeter, why would it increase so dramatically at high speeds?

This is a ghetto way, but it will solve the problem and then later on you can go to the dealer an let them handle it or at least until you buy some foam insulation tape. Cut a paper towel to match the length and fold a couple times to make it thick. Stick the paper towel in the gap in use a small flat-head screw driver to push it down more until its hardly visible from the drivers seat. The only time you see if is when you look directly on top or if it happens to be a sunny day and you get a reflection on your windshield.
Like I said, this is the ghetto way

my tweeter rattles in my passenger side a piller. ive been meaning to just take it out since i have my tweeters installed in my door now... it only happens once in a while, not all the time, and it did it back when i was still using it as a speaker also, but im pretty sure it is the tweeter rattling.

I'm thinking the suggestions about an A-Piller clip or maybe the tweeter is loose. Its not the speaker itself...I'd recognize the sound of the speaker itself rattling...this is different. A distinctly metallic rattle that I was almost positive was the VIN plate.

If you pressed on the VIN plate and the sound didn't stop, more than likely that's not the source of the noise.
