New Maxima Owner

Hey guys,
Got my first Maxima this weekend.
01 GLE Automatic, 169k.
It'll be my daily driver.
Looking around to see what I can do to it.
So far just some PM work planned.
Oil/filter and air filter change so far.
Brakes and valve cvr gaskets are in the works.

Welcome to the forum. I think you'll find a lot of help here when you need it.

These are great cars. There are lots of them running around with some pretty high mileage.

Thanks guys.
The forum has already been a big help.
Fixed the cruise control, missing rubber stopper.
Replaced the interior lights with LED, except for the map light, can't find that one.
I'll be doing the valve cover gaskets, front brakes and removing the sunroof this weekend.
The sunroof was sagging a bit in the rear so I removed the motor and bumped the switch to see if I could get it resolved.
And of course, it's all jacked up now. So I am going to remove the whole thing and start from scratch.
Thanks to the forum for having the manuals available.
And of course, the day before I take it to inspection, I get a P0430 code.
So I'm looking at the y-pipe the forum mentioned. Trying to search a place to get one now.

sunroof you get c- shaped washers or spacers to fit the sag u see at the rear where it meets the roof. ( like when standing outside the car the glass edge looks lower then the painted metal right? ) the spacers resolved that me

valve covers on 5.5 gen we get 6th gen valve covers, i forget if that applies to 2001, but look around here to confirm.

y-pipe warpspeed has ones, and i beleive your 2001 benefits most from y-pipe if I remember correctly

Thanks for the info Prophecy
My map light is one of those that you push in and twist.
I thought about the shim on the sunroof but didn't seem like there was enough thread protrusion on the nut to add some shim stock.
Hard lesson learned, lets see if I can get it back together ok.
Looking at warpspeed now, with a new cat I guess to. I may just put a spacer on the bank 2 O2 and see how that works too.

yea I got the rear cat, and y-pipe from warpseed on the car now 3 years.

i forget if this applies to 2000-2001 but, if you are getting in to exhaust preventive maintenance, you may want to consider ditching the precats or gutting them, they are known to possibly cause issues down the road (thinking long term, not sure how long u want this car , but at 169k they are def towards the end of thier useful life , i gutted my precats at 184k)

when i gutted mine got an O2 sim spliced in, after learning about the spacers though I kinda like that more in hindsight.
