TransGo Shift Kit= Slipping Cure

Was talking with a "Nissan Specialist" who suggested that I install the TransGo Shift Kit if I have slipping problems. He claims that it will cure the problem and preserve the transmission.

Based on what I've seen on this forum, the kit saving the tranny only applies to rebuilt ones or ones with no history of problems.

Do you think the kit will save a "slipping" transmission?

It didn't save mine. I had a bad 2-3 slip, and it got worse after I added the shift kit (it helped make the slip less noticeable tho). I'd suggest getting a 6-speed swap or a junkyard trans + the shift kit (but a j/y trans could have a slip. It's a gamble). Or go with IPT transmissions which is what I have (everything but the torque converter), and it's awesome. My friend sold me this trans which was rebuilt with the IPT rebuild kit + modded VB + IPT shift solenoid pack. It shifts hard & fast. http://www.importperformancetrans.co...rts.-54-1.html

Tried changing out the ATF and the 2-3 slipping has improved but it's still there. Is this just a weakness of this transmission? What do rebuilds go for these days??

Did you back flush the cooler lines? They could be plugged up with dirt.

Does the tranny have a thermostat or does it always send oil out into the cooler?

My auxillary cooler Haded 404 does not have a thermostat, but some do. dont think OEM / stock one does.

I am in the NE, and the only small con is extra cold/hard shifts on morning commutes before anything is warmed up in only the winter time, but after 11 years, it hasn't been that bad with out a thermostat. i only remember or notice it when I get on it on the morning within the first 5-10 mins of driving...

From what I understand, the radiator was replaced so maybe the lines were flushed.
I went thru several gallons of ATF just to get the color a little more red!
