Speedometer Not Working

Hello, I have a 2001 Maxima SE that had the speedometer stop a few days ago. The speedometer, odometer, and cruise control do not work to be more specific. All other gauges in the cluster work fine.

Additionally, the over drive light started blinking on startup, then turns off after about 10 blinks.

The first results I found online pointed a bad speed sensor, so I replaced that, but still not working. Anyone have any ideas where I should look next?

Thanks!

Could be the gauge cluster. And on my 2000 there are two speed sensors, I don't know what year they changed it to one, soit's possible that you could try to replace the other one if your car is equipped with it. But I think it's the gauge cluster based on an almost exactly the same problem I had a couple years ago.

Thanks for the info! I looked and there does not appear to be a second sensor on the transmission. From the videos I see about replacing the second one (where you have to take out in intake box to get to it) there just appears to be a plate on the transmission where that second sensor would be.

I have a gauge cluster on the way so hopefully that is the fix.

Does it make sense for the cruise control to not work if it is a cluster issue also?

Thanks again!

I believe that the cruise control also stopped working for me, but I don't 100% remember.

Well bummer, I replaced the instrument cluster and still not working. Now I am out of ideas. What do I do next, do I check the harnesses that plug into the back of the cluster? If the cluster can assume to be working, and the speed sensor is new, how many more parts are there to go over for this issue?

Not currently as the ABS light is on. Could this relate to the speedometer?

It can. You should fix the ABS, it might be a bad sensor.
