Is it possible to suck old coolant out of engine block on 5.5?
I'm about to do a long overdue coolant change. I did this a few years ago and can't even remember how I did it. I'm sure there was a write-up on the forum that I followed but I have no idea where it is. LOL! However, I do remember it took a long time and bleeding all the air out was an ordeal. I suspect I still have air in the system.
On the 5.5 the 2 coolant drain plugs on the block are a nightmare to remove. All the posts I have found regarding this topic say to not even bother.
I'd really like to get this done in one shot rather than repeatedly draining and refilling the radiator.
I know there are a million different vacuum refill tools on the market that will remove air from the system when refilling coolant and I plan to get one soon. It would seem that any of these tools would suck old coolant out but I've read up on a few of them and I don't think they do.
Does anyone know if this can be done and what tool(s) can do it?
Thanks
