Try running a wire to the fan motor from the battery, obviously youre just touching it for a second to see if itll turn on. If it doesnt, then the fan motor is toast, meaning you need a new set of fans. If it does turn on, then perhaps you have a faulty relay. Could also be something very basic like a faulty connection as well. Try searching the forum (using the google search option) im sure this has been covered ten thousand times already.

I read your other post too.
The fans are probably shot. A lot of the original fans are failing now that the cars are aging. Most of us have had to swap them out over the last few years.
The relays rarely fail unless they've gotten wet somehow.

The plug has four pins. I forget which ones are which off hand. You can try hardwiring them from the battery to test the fan motor. Just play with the connections. You wont hurt anything. Keep in mind the fans may kick on only to fail after running for a few minutes.

You can replace the entire fan assembly or just the motors. If you really want to be cheap you can look through the You-Pull-It yard for a Maxima with new looking fan motors. I did this and stumbled across one that looked like they swapped fans just before giving up and junking the car.

Install is pretty easy. Go ahead and disconnect the top hose from the radiator side. It's tempting to try squeezing the assembly around it but it wont work. You'll only lose a few drops of fluid as long as you prop the hose end up.

Start on page 494 ... follow the "Without Consult II" procedures to diagnose your fan assembly.

Make sure they're shafts aren't just spinning in the plastic impellers due to heat damage...

This symptom leads me to believe that the fan assembly has failed and needs to be replaced.

You should be able to get a brand new dual fan assembly from your local parts store for about $135-$150.

Yup, your fan motors are shot, time to get them replaced. You can buy a whole fan assembly one piece unit at any auto parts store, or purchase just the motors themselves and replace those from rockauto.com

Here's a video that walks you through the whole process that helped me.

Also while your in there working, check your radiator for any leaks, I just replaced mine that sprung a leak.

Check the RAD FAN1 and RAD FAN2 fuses by the battery.
