quick ? about compressors

Make a long story short I gotta replace the compressor in my 2001 Maxima -6/2001. I'm considering a pull apart compressor and wondering from what year maxima I can pick from.

Will the compressor from -6/00 fit and function properly in the maxima -6/01? My max was built in 2/01

Thanks

I usually don't mind junkyard parts but I wouldn't recommend a junk yard AC compressor. If it's in a U-Pull it yard it's been sitting in the moisture.

A JY compressor is going to be just as old as yours. It's also a "nonessential" part so there will be more bad ones in the yard than other parts like starters etc... People can drive around with a bad compressor for a long time before junking the car for some other reason.

You also have to pay to have it vacuumed and recharged install which adds to the expense if you get a bad one.

I think you're better off paying a bit more for a rebuilt one.
