High idle, lower than before

I have a 2000 Maxima, was throwing the p0505 and idling around ~3,000 rpms at startup and between ~1,500-2,000 rpms after warming up. Replaced the IAC, with a notably cheaper one from Amazon (~$33), since then the car idles at ~1,200 rpms at startup, but doesn't lower at all after warming up. In gear, idles around ~800-900 at a constant. The housing was shot on the old one, it appeared someone had tried to adjust the idle previously and pinned out the adjustment screw (you could hear rattling from the housing). However, while the old one was on the idle did decrease, not by much but it was noticeable. Maybe a bad module on the new one? Should I leave the housing on and swap the module to the old one, or would it be a waste of time? ECU reads IACV Learn Cmplt.

The cheap IACV is not worth it. Besides not idling properly, it can damage your ECU.
The OEM part is made by Hitachi. You can buy it here https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ac)+valve,6072, for $112.

Many time when the P505 error happens, the IACV damages the ECU that controls the IACV. Specifically, transistors burn up. Replacing the IACV with the ECU being damaged will not make the car idle correctly.

Did you have the ECU checked?

I will be buying the Hitachi part with my next check. Thanks!

No I haven't yet had the ECU checked, was hoping I could get by with just the IACV for now. Bought the car for $800 maybe a month ago, was trying to hopefully spend as little as possible.

So, the guy I bought the car from has an extra for parts, waiting for him to find the throttle assembly (He pulled it out previously) so I can try it out and see if that helps.

Anybody have any thoughts/suggestions/ideas for removing the old gasket? Looks a little stuck in there...
