2002 Maxima Cutting Off/Starting Issues
2002 Maxima Cutting Off/Starting Issues
My daughter has a 2002 Nissan Maxima and just started having issues with the engine cutting off. It starts normal, but after a couple minutes of driving the car cuts off and all on the lights on the dash come on. When she tries to start it back up it takes about 5 seconds and will start. All of the dash lights go out except the CEL, SLIP, and traction control lights. If the car sits for a while it will start normal until the next time it cuts off. The car does not run rough and it does not matter if she is braking, accelerating, or turning when it cuts off.
All I have done so far is replace the battery and clean all battery cable and ground connections - which did not correct the problem.
The codes are: C1130, P1800, and P0340. I am leaning towards replacing the Camshaft Position Sensor on bank 1 (code P0340), but don’t have most symptoms when I read about the bad sensor. Can a CPS go bad and still run normal? I have heard that starting issues can throw that code too do I am hesitant to replace it. Also, why would the SLIP and the traction control lights stay on?
Any ideas? Thank you!!!!

100% with out a doubt it is the Crankshaft and Cam position sensors, do all three and all three OEM, or go home. if you do not go with OEM, you will be doing it again in less than a year. if you don't do all three then you are also not guaranteed for long to be free and clear of issues, because if one is going you can be sure the others will be on their way out as well.
i had CPS issues with no codes and dealer inspection, be glad you have a code to help.
