2nd Gen 3.5 re ring/ upgrade + timing guides

So I'm doing an engine pull for like the 3rd time. She's back on jack stands because I have to do a timing chain job, she starts up but it really hurts to hear her this way especially considering I had just gotten rid of my CEL.... So while I have the engine out to diagnose the issue I wanna take care of a few things asap so this thing runs forever.

Timing chain guides: They're made of plastic, I know they're extremely prone to wear and I want them changed out asap. The guides breaking may be the reason why the engine is acting this way (Or tensioner) Aside from purchasing some fresh ones is there any way to improve? them maybe change them out for a stronger or higher quality material? Because from what I've been looking into my best bet might just be OEM.

Oil Gallery Gasket: Yes I should've changed them before but I'm doing it now, ordered aluminum ones from Nisformance

Piston Rings: I want these changed out because I had low compression. Again with this, I was planning to go OEM unless better options are available. I did some basic research regarding how particular materials react, what to look for, and as well as a few notable brands. But I want answers from people who have experience in this department with our engines. What worked best for you? How did you go about it? Where did you order from? How much are they? How long have they lasted? And if you have upgraded and not just replaced the rings have you felt any notable gains or difference in the way the engine pulls?

Any info helps and is greatly appreciated. I just want her on the road while being able to have peace of mind while I'm at redline.

P.s. Best cold intake choice? I heard some gnarly sounds from Weapon R intakes on our engines and I honestly love it but any other recommendations?

I'm very confused.

What motor? (Specific year and model if it's not an original 5.5 motor).

Why are you pulling it so often?

What's wrong with it?

Pics would help a lot as well when you get the motor apart.

Mistakes were made initially. It's a 2009 motor. I thought the timing guides had gone because the issue sounded exactly like my original 3.5 that blew but upon pulling the engine i found that the guides were fine and the cam signal wheel had spun right off!

Timing chain and guides are spotless. So I'm going to do myself a favor and change the oil gallery gaskets

Im going to put some loctite and screw it right back on, this may have been the issue all along.

I also had poor compression in bank 1 and i tried using engine restore to remedy it. But now I'm here with the engine out and timing cover off so yeah... At least i can give the bay a good scrub down 🤷🏽‍♂️

DID YOU REPLACE THE OIL PUMP WITH A REV-UP OIL PUMP?!

If not you're gonna need another motor pretty soon....

A Rev-Up oil pump? Isn't that for high rpm use? I haven't even gotten to raising the rev limit and it's still running on the stock 02 ecu. Is there any particular reason why it would cause me to "need another motor"? Can the stock pump not handle much?

The stock pump can only handle stock things.

So if you're just going to be stock, untuned, just puting around town, then you're fine.

Ight cool that's all i needed to know. Tbh i was planning on playing around a bit with Romraider and seeing if i could up the rev limit a bit.The oil pump definitely wasn't in my head when i was thinking about it so thanks for the heads up 👌👌👌
