Intermittent starting issue

I’m having a bit of an annoying issue with my ‘03. Sometimes when I try to start it, it does nothing. I have full dash lights, I hear the fuel pump run, but it simply does nothing. It starts after a few tries some days, other times it takes me a good five minutes of turning the key to get it to turn over. The battery is in good shape, the crankshaft position sensor was replaced, so I’m not sure what the deal is. The car has close to 210,000 on it, so is it worth checking out the starter? Also, the EVAP canister purge valve is no good, and I’m working on replacing that, would that have anything to do with my issue as well?

did you replace all 3 of the crankshaft/cam position sensors or just the one? did you replace with oem? i learned the hard way not using OEM, and also they do not always throw codes at all, i never had codes for mine when OEM failed and trash aftermarket failed. and if you only do 1 you are not compeltely eliminating that possiblity of that being the problem. and yea when mine were going bad i did have start issues but it was more rough idle and not staying running with out help from the throttle. and of course shutting off randomly w no warning in the middle of driving.

the evap may cause some start issues in rare cases (i had start issues immediately after filling up at the gas station and that was the EVAP) but not much else where.

when my starter went it definitely gave me a few chances to get started, but it got worse and worse and worse. definitely get the starter diagnosed as well.

I only replaced the one and I used an aftermarket part as I was short on money. I recently discovered that it starts in neutral every time, so I may have a bad neutral safety switch.

ok best of luck, what made you do the 1 crankshaft position sensor in the first place? did you have a code? if you want to eliminate that possibility which will cause starting issues you need to do OEM and all 3, if not you will be doing circles.

i read into the neutral saftey switch, if it is easy to switch out then go for it, it wont hurt to replace that and see. keep us posted.
