P0720 High Revs with No Power Sudden Onset
I have a 2001 GLE. The ABS and SLIP light have been on for a while, and it has spit codes P0420 and P0430 for a while, but has driven fine. Previously, I’ve replaced an ignition coil and spark plug when I had a misfire (I only had the money to do one of each), the radiator and fans, and finally, I’ve replaced the Revolution Sensor when I had almost the exact same issues about 1.5-2 years ago.
What happens is, when I press on the gas, the RPMs skyrocket, but I hardly get any power to the wheels- if any at all. Occasionally, if I throttle the gas, it’ll “catch” and shift into gear, but not usually. I used to have this problem either immediately or whenever I drove for more than an hour and went from highway speeds to low speeds/ stopped at a light. I replaced the revolution sensor, and since then I’ve only experienced it when I’ve driven for hours (usually at high speeds), but it had always gone away after I let the car sit for about 20 mins.
Until yesterday. Yesterday, I had driven it for a pretty extended period of time, and to top it off it had stormed very bad and I was in an unfamiliar area with pretty low visibility. There were a lot of branches and the like in the road, and a rather large dead animal that I couldn’t really avoid. I expected to get a flat, maybe, but instead, I had the worst problem with this I have ever had. Any time I stopped it was a gamble if it was going to shift, still is, and 9/10 times, I couldn’t go more than 25-30 mph with RPMS staying way too high.
P0720 says Speed Sensor circuit, is that still the same part I’m thinking of as the Revolution Sensor? Did I knock it loose maybe? Or should I just replace the whole part again? I’d think if it had been under enough stress to come loose or get damaged in the wheel well, I’d see some other problems with the suspension or tires before I’d see this, but I could be assuming wrong here.

See above. Depending on your production date (early 5th gen), you may only need one sensor. If you are 5.5 Gen with RE4F04B, you will need two of these sensors, one for revolution and one for turbine. This sensor is used in practically every Nissan auto trans. This cures P0720.

Do I still need just the one? And can I use that $20 one from eBay that was posted?
