engine stalls cold start

Hi,
my A33 cannot keep idle engine when turning on from cold start , I need to rev it up to 2000rpm for 10-15 seconds if I want to prevent it from stalling.
Garage folks told me I may need to have ICV replaced, which I guess is in expensive repair(3 hours) plus OEM part.. does anybody have a cheap solution? ThanksError codes just P0158 which I tend to erase when it pops every 500miles or so.

no codes besides p0158 which is unrelated. one engine is warm, I switch it off and then on again easily, without having to rev up to 2000rpm to sustain the idle.
read somewhere possible cracks in between MAF and ACV, I will look at that corrugated piece of plastic for cracks...

It's either your IACV, or perhaps your MAF.
I would start with the IACV. Hitachi makes the OEM version, and you can boy it here: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ac)+valve,6072 - and it's only $106.79.
If that doesn't work, try replacing your MAF.

Changed both MAF and ICV solenoid actuator. mechanic says actuator is not working (old and also new one!) and suggests me to buy new Hitachi ensemble for 600+labor. I suspect issue is elsewhere, so I won't keep on forking $ on blind attemps.
mechanic has manually depressed ICV actuator plug and now idle seems better at 750rpm vs 400rpm before. still I doubt this will last as sping will go back to position.
from what I have read in other threads, probably issue resides in the main console, but I do not want to spend more on it as it is just our holiday car spending most of the time parked outside.
thanks all for your help!
