Im in NJ here.. and i've been getting soo much crap from many ignorant people that have never driving the altima and maxima back to back telling me that the 3.5 altima is faster... sum1's gotta jump up and slam the cold hard facts in SCC's face cuz theres no WAY on the track and even on paper specs that the altima is faster...

5 speed altima weighs approx 60 lbs less than 6 speed maxima and has 15 less flywheel hp. also.. the compression ratio is different and so is the suspension.

OMG NO!!!! this has been the worst esperience of my life!!! first they tell me that nissan admits that it is a maufactures defect.... 4 days after they say oh it was customer abuse!!! since i am 17 years old they think i am ragging the hell out of my car! my mom called nissan customer service filled a report and nissan was going to void my warrenty and not fix the tranny since it was customer abuse! since my mom filed the report and threatend legal actions they decided it would be in their best interest that they fix the tranny and DONT void my warrenty! i was supposed to get it back today (friday) but they forgot to order the gear assembly parts so i "should" get it back on mon! OH to compensate me for all of this they are givign me some free oil change coupons!!! too bad i change my own oil and wouldnt ever trust them with my car again! this was a short short summary of what happend it was much worse!!! im gettin my car back and callin clark howard! this is BULL ****!!! it is almost impossible to break a 6 speed tranny in 2k miles!!

that sucks

But good to see you are keeping on them. Don't let that dealer get away with that kind of BS.
This is the second time I've heard of this "cancelling the warranty" thing - how do they expect to get away with something like that - you bought the warranty, its part of the price of the car!
Hope it all turns out good for you.

I really hope someone with a 2K2 6-speed out on the west coast takes this challenge and spanks SCC. I *hate* that magazine. They should call it Honda Magazine because that's all they seem to favor. I am sick of reading articles about how to mod the tiny sh*tbox cars they always run. But I guess that's why they call it Sport COMPACT car. The magazine in general is not in favor of the slightly more expensive luxury-sport cars like the Maxima. They are *always* partial to the cheapo rice crap like Hondas, Ford Focus, and the smaller Acuras.

That aside, there number for the Altima/Maxima seem way off base. Someone needs to teach them a lesson and make them eat crow in the next issue, PLEASE.
