2002 Nissan Maxima SE 6-Speed

I was driving home from work on Friday and I decided to hit the gas hard from first to second gear and the car was running great. I stopped at a stop sign soon after and it was still running fine. As I was pulling away from the stop sign, I noticed the car "shutter" and by the time I got to the next stop sign (25 feet away) my car shut off and it would not start. I noticed while trying to start the car again that the fuel pump was not making any noise when turning the ignition on.

Since then, I have swapped out the fuel pump and fuel pump relay with my 2003 Auto. Maxima. All the parts I swapped work fine in the Auto. Maxima, but I'm still getting the same problem in my 6-speed Maxima. No sound whatsoever coming from the fuel pump.

My security light only stays solid red when I have the car locked, but goes off as soon as I unlock the car. I am assuming It's not the immobilizer, but I honestly don't know what the problem is. I have swapped fuses out with my Auto. Max and still nothing.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I am also searching through threads and trying to get information from there also. I figured if I explained my "no power to fuel pump" issue, that it could possibly pinpoint the issue I'm having or at least rule some things out.

if the red light stays solid with the key in the run position the NATS system is having an issue. I recently had my ECU reflashed by Nisformance and they bypassed the NATS so any cut key works. red LED is constantly on while the engine runs so I may cut the wire for it.

I suggest you check the following:

• Power to the Fuel Pump. Check this at the gas tank/fuel pump connector. It's the black wire with yellow stripe.
• Crankshaft sensor. Check your CPS; this is because thee ECU will shut off fuel delivery when there is no CPS signal within a few seconds of turning the ignition key ON.
• Fuses. Check the fuse for the fuel pump - Fuse 29 (15 amp), bottom row, 3rd from right end. Also check fuse 17 (10 amp), middle row, 4th from right end (it provides power to the fuel injectors and the fuel pump relay).

Is there supposed to be a bracket or something holding the top of the crankshaft sensor? I took the old one out and it was fairly loose when I took it out and now the new one doesn't seem to want to go in all the way and It's also loose.

no bracket, just one small bolt and a connector.

That is all the way in completely lined up with the one bolt.

I guess I'm missing a little plastic piece now that I look at your picture.

there's no plastic piece, that's the primary O2 sensor wire. I have 4th gen exhaust manifolds with Warpspeed Y-pipe and the primary O2 sensors are halfway down the Y-pipe instead of on the exhaust manifold. I used 2002 pathfinder left side O2 sensors since the wires are a lot longer. that's just how I routed that side to keep the slack from getting into the radiator fan. looks like my crank sensor is missing the o-ring. I don't think the crank sensor would keep power from getting to the fuel pump. I'm guessing it's an NATS issue.

I wouldn't think it has much to do with not getting power to the fuel pump either, It's just something I noticed when looking over the car. It doesn't seem right for the crankshaft sensor to be that loose and for the o-ring on the crankshaft sensor to not even sit properly.

Still waiting on tools to check power and whatnot.
