Loss of power

Hey, i drive a 01 maxima and I’m losing a lot of power at 4,000 rpm the runs and drives well but when I’m ready to pin it it accelerates but once it gets up to 3,500 it starts to not accelerate as hard and it just continues to feel powerless all the way to redline. I was told it was the clutch causing the loss of power but maybe it could be something else? When I want to shift at 3,000 rpm I sink the clutch but the rpms stay at 3,000 rpms for about 3-5 seconds before falling. Idk what it could be

You would smell the clutch if it was slipping that bad. My guess is a failing MAF sensor but pulling codes should be your first step in diagnosing.
