Hello,
it seems my stock Bose amp keep cutting in and out, my mechanic checked it out and figures it’s inside the amp itself ., so my question is, I bought and installed a Kenwood dpx794 bh stereo, which I believe is 4 ohms 50wx4 . The stock speakers are 1.5 ohms, so if I buy an aftermarket amp what specs should I be looking for? A 4 ohms amp? If I do that do I need to replace the speakers as well and will the Bose stock sub work with after market amp? Thank you I look forward to hearing back from someone.,

You will need new speakers and new sub, everything Bose made was basically proprietary at 1ohm. Even worse, you might have to run new speaker wires through the entire car because of the Bose system, IIRC Bose put a mini amp for each speaker rather than just one larger amp for all the speakers, which means replacing just the headunit would leave those mini amps intact and cause your new components to burn out. Total retardation lol. Many models have that configuration, some didnt, I dont remember off the top of my head how to tell but if you use the search function (specifically google search, from the dropdown) on this forum, all of the information you need can be found, its a topic that has been discussed to death over the years.

Thank you for your replying I really appreciate you for the information you have given me.
as much as i have always loved Bose, they are really pissing me off now, lol so if i replace the amp i have to replace all speakers and the sub as well, hmmmm
$$$$$$$ yikes, the speakers i want are Rockford Fosgate, $199.99 per speaker. 200 watts 4 ohms.
when im looking for an amp, I also want a Fosgate amp, am i looking or a 4 ohms amp?, 2 channel 4 channel or 5 channel? and what wattage would i be looking for? and when it comes to the sub, that also has to be 4 ohms? and how many watts? my apologies for all the questions, im just a girl on my own, no man around to teach me this stuff, lol, i have done research, but am a bit confused. any advice would be greatly appreciated again. thank you.

I don't know if the CA in your profile means Canada or California. If you are on California, you should be able to get a similar deal in TJ. Make sure that you check Google reviews.

When the Bose headunit failed on my 2000 Maxima, I had it replaced with an off-the-shelf brand and I kept my Bose speakers. They had to install three types of adapters (for speakers, power, and something else ... can't remember now). The lesson I learned is "in the future, avoid Bose". In addition to the problems just discussed, Bose equipment is much less reliable than the other brands.
just grab an adapter to work with your original speakers, i replaced only my bose head unit with just a new alpine head unit and just needed a converter or two and everything is fine. look at crutchfield and see what you need. they are extremely helpful and even helped me in the middle of my install which i never did before that point.

and thanks to all of you wonderful people who gave me good advice I appreciate it much, I did replace the head unit with a kenwood one and it’s a wicked stereo, but the amp has always kicked in and out since I purchased the car eight months ago. makes the sub kick in and out as well, so my mechanic said it’s in the amp itself where the problem lies.. and your right when the amp and sub do kick in and they do work which is very few and far between at this time but when they do that it sounds wicked the stereo sounds great but I’m sick of having no base 90% of the time and only having base 10% of the time , so I am in need of an amp forsure., and a sub because I’m replacing the amp bummer because my sub kicks ***., when it do want cut out with the amp haha., ok I know now what to do thanks to all of you very much appreciated

basically you buy a new relay , take apart the amp and solder the new relay (you can re use the old relay, but its recommended you replace it since you gotta take it apart anyway)
i had the bass cut out and fixed it my self doing this fix. pictures are lost but i basically did this process. 10$ and its been fixed since.
