3rd gen VQ swap done. Now what?
Just finished my 3rd gen swap, new engine and clutch/flywheel are running great.
I guess my question is what comes next?
I assume the new motor needs a tune to actually reach its full potential, what's the best way to achieve that? I have literally zero knowledge of tuning and I'm not sure where to start looking, or if there's a good company that specializes in swapped maximas. I know Nisformance has a mail-in tune but I believe those are only for stock 5.5 motors
Car has a 2.5" exhaust but i'm still running the stock 02' airbox, tried to get an intake but my MAF doesn't fit the intakes for '17 motors. Not sure if I should just go back to my old GAB setup, lol
Anyways any advice is appreciated, thanks 👍

What are your goals?
If it's performance, try and find some headers to let that engine breathe, and 3" exhaust.
If you just want good daily drivability with some pep, get a slot style MAF intake from Nisformance with a tune.
If you want to show it off get the advanced "Uprev style" features with your tune.

Also the Nisformance tune says 02-15, would they still be able to do my motor? I'll have to look more into it and ask em some questions. Thanks

I have a 2014 engine on the way to swap into my 02 6 speed.

Yes and yes. You're using the factory ECU and that's what matters as far as model year goes. The year of the engine isn't particularly relevant.

Nisformance tuned my ECU for 87 octane fuel when they did my engine swap. So I know for a fact that they do such tuning. The MAF that they used on my car is branded Renault/Nissan. I assume that it came off the same 2019 Maxima that the engine was taken from.
