New tranny solenoids

Hi.
My tranny has been basically downshifting and staying in low gear for years but only when it's super hot in the summer.
and even then i just pull over and turn the car off/on to reset the solenoids and it's fine.
Sometimes i just rev it outand it will up-shift then.

it's getting bad now so my question is do i need to take the valve body out to do this job.
or can i just drop the pan and bolt them in?

http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/2003/AT.pdf

in the manual it says to take everything apart but it just looks like it's for inspection purposes
like check springs and ***** stuff like that.

thanks for looking.

I had the same issue. Two sensors for RE4F04B.

One speed, one Turbine. Easily accessible by removing driver side vertical splash shield on the inside of the wheel arch. I replaced both of mine with OEM and never had a problem since. If I had to do it a second time, they're so easy to get to that I'd roll the dice with cheap ebay sensors.

ya i tried the speed sensor, idk what the turbine sensor is, but it didn't work i think it made it worse so i put the oem one back in.

rock auto sent me the wrong solenoids so i took off the valve body and the things didn't fit.
total waste of time and money.

Drain that crap out and put proper fluid in there without any bottles of additives.
