Speedometer Intermittently works
Speedometer Intermittently works
Hey all ive got a 2003 nissan maxima that ive been battling with my speedometer not wanting to function for almost a year straight now. When it doesnt work it throws the typical abs, tcs, and slip lights and wont come off zero. It wasnt much of an issue for me because i would commute to work in this vehicle so i would use some sort of nav that would display my speed regardless but recently now that its been getting warmer its been starting to work again for me but when it works the car feels like it has little to no power or that its went into limp mode without any sort of indication on why. I have a gauge that i previously used in my land rover called an ultragauge that will display any sort of info the sensors on the car will give to you besides trans fluid temp and oil temps and when the speedo does not work it will not display the speed on the gauge. Ive replaced the relay, both speed sensors (3 sets to make sure i did not have a faulty pair), both battery terminals and cables, battery, alternator (went bad a few months ago), and i disassembled the speedometer and checked all sauter points and found nothing wrong with them. The current codes its pulling are p1212, p1800, u1001, p1574 and p0507. Ive done extension research on these forums and haven't had any success on any of the others fixes. I was wondering if there might be a main ground somewhere that could be bad, bcm issue, or what yall might think it is.
did you try changing the speed sensor on the transmission?
P0507 engine idling too high
P1212 and U1001 check ABS fuse
P1574 vehicle speed sensor on transmission
P1800 variable intake air system solenoid

I had the same problem when I owned
A 5.5 Gen Maxima.
The above sensor should solve your problems.
It's located at the bottom of the vehicle
if memory serves me correctly.
You will have to get under your car for this repair.
