Moonroof reset for 2001
Moonroof reset for 2001
Trying to scour the net on how to reset the moonroof on my 2001 since I can not find it anywhere all they say for the 2002 and up which is not the same step. mine will not close all the way I have to keep hit the button several times, even with tilt. Does anyone knows how to reset it since the car battery been disconnected for some time so I'm tryin got get it going again

I've already saw that post and tried that. I can't seem to get anything to go. As the poster, I read that you sent me the link, it only for 2002 models and newer since we don't have that "slider" switch on the 2001. The relay step, I tried that already and follow it but I'm surprise my owner manual does have no mention about the moon roof initialization or reset anywhere. I find it very disappointing that I have to figure out by a long shot.

I feel you OP, the Sunroof is a pain and there isn't a lot of information about the 2000 / 2001 sunroof.
What happened to me was the sunroof motor would appear to be completely non-responsive after a while and "stuck" in position - it really seemed bricked.
Disconnecting the circuit breaker "E90" (under the dash) and disconnecting the battery didn't seem to resolve the issue in my case either.
But the fix above from 03_GLE seemed to work, I held must of held the tilt switch in the tilt/open for 30 seconds and released on a whim.
I don't believe there is any feedback from the system until you release and engage the switch again.
In my case, the sunroof was in a closed or near closed position (I had to disconnect the motor to manually slide it shut just before this incident).
I also can't fully close my sunroof (i.e. level with roof) using the sliders alone either and have to pulse the tilt button to be partially tilted up.
I tried the calibration in the FSM where you disconnect the motor and allow it to reach the full pinion travel then reconnect.
This resulted in the sun roof getting jammed - in the tilt up position. I'm throwing in the towel and will accept this non-ideal behavior where the
sunroof calibrated close position is not the actual closed position.
I suspect in my case that some parts (possibly bushings?) might be worn / loose or mis-adjusted over the years.
Personally, I'm not going to worry about it but have to be mindful about fully closing it.
Good luck!
