What does this do

I have tried to research what this does but have found nothing. It goes inside the throttle body and am trying to figure out exactly what it does. Nissan 14040-2Y900 Clamp-Pipe Is the part number.

I’m curious as well, my 01 had it when I removed the TB and changed the IACV

I believe this is the variable air intake system (vias) plate on the side of the intake, it helps by changing air flow to short runners or long runners based on rpm and torque needed. Kinda like vtec for an intake

Not part of the VIAS.

I believe its a heat shield for the EGR tube. Unfortunately I don't have mine anymore to double check. How else could this happen without it?
