2000 Maxima got new Quick Struts all around

GEN 5 Reporting in!

Today was a busy day as I decided to sharpen my mechanical skills on my 2000 Nissan Maxima and installed new Quick Struts all around (Front & Rear Struts).

Unfortunately, KYB and Bilstein does NOT sell a Quick Strut for my Maxima, and I am not about to be compressing springs at my age! LOL!

Therefore, Monroe Quick struts for the rear axles and Master Pro for the front was selected.

The lower control Arms was a struggle as they lifted the entire hub and had to get a pry bar (heavy duty) to lower the control arm down in order to insert the struts bolts.
The Rear was a piece of cake, super easy and the old ones been there since the car was built!

However, the Top securing nuts were placed in a larger socket 15mm (Instead of the 14mm) because I used Gorilla Double sided tape to keep the nut temporarily glued on the larger size socket so, I would not lose it and help volumes to provide a good install in an area (trunk) that is very hostile to work in.

I have an early alignment appointment in the morning!
Sharing a few pictures of my work.

Gorilla double sided tape to keep 14mm nut from falling at the inside of trunk for top mounting of rear struts.

Good work! I found the hard way that disconnecting the front outer tie rod makes the job much easier.

Any noises from the front quick struts?

None, took it for a test drive for a short distance, however,
It seems like the local Parts Dealer (Not going to mention the name) has the Monroe on special order as this brand had noises so, they decided to not stock in their stores but, will special order if customer wants.
Master-Pro is their brand (Hint) and they have had very good success.

I’ve tried two different types of quick struts on my daughter’s 03 Maxima and they are bit clunky, not bad, but definitely noticeable.

Did you order the Master-Pro’s online? I don’t think that RockAuto carries them.

No, I purposely went directly to the Local Parts Dealer as I have a commercial account with them and will enjoy the limited Life-Time warranty and reason I do not order from On-Line outlets.

It gives me that personal relationship with my Commercial contact.

I went with the Monroe quick struts up front for my Sienna and replacement Monroe shocks for the rear.. the front seems noticably higher now. eventually I'll be hittin gthe junkyard for some OEM springs.

as for my Maxima I have Tein lowering springs and KYB struts, I hate fender gap...

Yeah, I do understand about the sightly seen struts though fend gaps and making one's ride look cool but, I am not in any way looking for that so, just trying to keep things stock.

Everyone needs to decide on what they need for their Maximas.

Thanks for your post.
