VW Jetta is pretty quick

VW Jetta is pretty quick
I was on a 3 lane highway in a lane that merges into the far right lane. In front of me was a Jetta, but I didn't see a 1.8T logo or VR6. We were going about 100km and neither of us merged yet. I waited for the longest time for the guy to merge but he didn't. So, I decided to give it some gas and get into the far right lane. Then annoyingly the guy changes lane. Then he punches it and went into the middle lane. I did the same, moving into the middle. Soon I went over to the far left lane. At one point he was about 5-6 car lengths ahead of me and I gained slowly. There were traffic on the highway and when I was about 2 car lengths from him he punched on the brakes as we were about to run into some slow drivers.
Anyways, I didn't gain as quickly as I wanted. I think I was in 4th, and 140 km, and who knows what gear or rpm he hit. I too had to hit the brakes hard as there were slow drivers in all three lanes.
I am gonna recheck my Stillen to make sure everything is proper.

Probably a VR6 so don't worry they are pretty quick at those speeds. If he has a 5-6 car lead and punches it before you and you were out of optimal gear it is going to take a while to catch up. To catch up 5-6 cars would take a while for sure so don't worry. Next time gear down and punch it through 3rd-4th.

Re: VW Jetta is pretty quick
It could be either the 1.8t or Vr6. Really hte 1.8t didn't get more powerful till 2002. It is basically a dead match between it and the older VR6 engine.

A 1.8t can be very fast if chipped (240 hp and similar amounts of torque)

I dont know much about VW's but he has a 4 cylinder non turbo new bodystyle GTI. It is manual and has exhaust, intake, and UR UDP. I raced the kid one time cause he was messing with me while i was driving and pulled 7+ cars on the kid. He claimed that he hung with me, which is hilarious. Now he has "something up his sleve" but I wont waste my gas. Oh BTW he wants to run BriGuyMax in his fully modded 4th Gen with a 100 shot when he gets his turbo
