Trunk Release Question.

When I press the release, should my trunk lid open completely or just bounce (a little bit) and sit open? Just wondering if it's wearing out, or I'm going crazy (or both).

When I hit either the release on the door or on the key fob, the trunk pops and it opens like an inch or so. This is how it is supposed to work as that is what all 3 of my Max's have done.

I have a friend with an Olds and when he hits the release, the trunk lid launches up like it is going to go through the back window. I personally think that looks kind of cheesy and it can be dangerous. Besides, if it is windy out, I would prefer my trunk not whip open. It would be handy to have it open all the way when your hands are full though.

On my '01 When I use either the button release on the door or on my key, the trunk makes a click. It doesn't open up at all. Maybe like a 1/4" gap.

Take out the spoiler and it'll open up higher.

I think there are new springs you can get to make it open higher. My SE just popped open but didn't rise (probably due to the spoiler). But on my i35, when they installed the spoiler the dealer changes out the springs so it pops about 1/2-way open.

If you want it to spring open a little, you could try going to an Infiniti parts dept and ordering the springs from an i with spoiler.

Do you have a dealer name and phone number? I asked this question of a local Infiniti dealer here and they had no idea what I ws talking about when I asked if there were different trunk springs.

Miller Infiniti took care of mine.. (818) 782-1000... they have a Nissan dealership next door, so maybe they'll know more about it fitting on a Max? ..worth a shot anywayz.
