6 spd prob/engine hesitation
6 spd prob/engine hesitation
I posted a long email containing this problem sometime last week. For some reason, my 2k2 SE does not want to shift into 6th gear... 1 out of every 3 times it seems (usually around 55-65mph). I haven't been able to get anyone from the dealer's service department on the phone to talk about it yet. It's just bugging the h*** out of me. I only have 1K miles on the car (had it 2 weeks). Anyone have any ideas?
Also, since I first drove it off the lot, the car hesitates when you try to accelerate faster... from any gear. For example, when fully in gear, I push the accelerator harder and the car kind of pauses for a second before taking off. I can't stand it because I've never felt this in any manual I have driven. Someone mentioned to me that it may be an issue with the drive-by-wire throttle system not sending the signal to the computer at the precise time. Any ideas? This is the issue I'm more concerned about.
Thanks

6spd/hesitation problems
I have a 02SE with 2200 miles. I've noticed a slight hesitation when flooring the pedal from idle. But from postings here I've attributed tjos to the DBW issue. But I've never experienced this from higher RPM's. At higher RPMs, when flooring the pedal I've noticed a surge in power which I've attributed to the ECU opening up the 2nd air flow, etc. I believe this occurs around 3-4K RPM.
As for being locked out of 6th, I've on a few occasions missed/been locked out of the change from 1st to 2nd. This has happened when I've tried to speed shift. I've attributed this to my trying to force rather than guide the shift. I have not had any problems with any other shift pattern. I would suggest you ask a service manager to try driving your car (given that you say it happens quite often).
Hope this helps.
