2k2 6-speed or WRX?

I'm going to make a purchase soon but undecided on either the WRX or a 2k2 6 speed SE. Keep in mind that a WRX can be tuned for just $1,700 and make 298 HP with a stage 2 Turbo XS package. What do you guys think?

Maxima all the way. The max has more class, and still has the power! I think the WRX is ugly. IMO

Re: 2k2 6-speed or WRX?

The answer is: depends. I went through this decision before buying my 2k2 6spd.

Ultimately, I could not convince myself to spend $35K CDN for cloth interior, econonomy car roominess, poor sound insulation, and lack of low end torque.

When I drive my 2k2 I feel like I got a good deal. People frequently ask me what I paid for my Max, and estimate the value at $40K plus. I doubt they would guess a Subaru Impreza at $40K.

Ultimately, I think it comes down to the fact that the WRX is a car geared towards all-out performance, while the Max is geared towards sporty-luxury. If you care about acceleration and nothing else, get the Subie. Otherwise, I would recommend the Max. Personally, I did not want to be cruising down the highway listening to some high strung engine and sitting on cloth seats in a small car when I could be sitting on heated leather seats, with a heated steering wheel, listening to my choice of 6 CDs, with my 3.5L engine loafing along at 2000 rpm in 6th gear.

AWD=awesome handling....

It all depends on what you are looking for. You seem to have a performance package setup already for the REX. To me, that is what you seem to be looking for. If you are looking to mod, get the REX. The Maxima does have a lot of performance, don't get me wrong, but the REX has much more potential (i.e. turbo). Check out www.i-club.com for Subie info.
If you want class/sporty performance/value go with the Max.
If you want all out performance/mod capability go with the REX.
Your choice.

Yes It tough to call but what are you most looking for in the car, the Impreza WRX has a wicked racing history but the maxima is well a cousin to the SKYLINE

Go with the WRX. It is faster, AWD, and more modifiable. Furthermore, it doesn't have sunroof, and the interior isn't as luxurious. Resale value will be lower, and less reliable possibly. On long trips the passengers in the back might strangle you due to leg cramp.

Your decision: Comfort, luxury, sportiness for 4 or 5 vs car with great HP potential, tossibility.

the wrx has lots with performance; after you get inside the max however it's an all new world; QUALITY! AND COMFORT
f__ the supercharger and have NOS at demand for $800 installed
I shopped the Wrx-great car. The max is not on the same league with a Subaru; compare it to the acura cl type-s with a manual tranny
compare the wrx with a future neon supercharged...........

Maxima = lotsa room and class and modifiable
Wrx = less room and racer look and very modifiable

My Max is a 5spd Look at page 2 of my cardomain page. The WRX is bad ***, the chassis is rally car based so you wouldn't have to get something like the Warpspeed SFC to make it stiffer. The Maxima is great, but if I had a chance to do it over again, I would have gotten the WRX. And there is no substitute for that pssssssssshhhh sound from the blow off valve.
