ugh.. got solenoids.. slip is gone...

but now there is a monster delay on 2-3 shift. RPM does not shoot up, so that is a bonus. I suspect that delay will now start to eat away at the tranny until a full replacement is needed?

I can't wait :/ I actually had a good experience at service today. Had to drive 40 miles to get it, but it beat wasting 100% of my time at the local place. 10 min drive + 30 mins of pure bs + no fix OR 30 min drive and it gets fixed. Easy call.

on the upside, I got the wind noise tsb done. that was ok. They didnt track oil in the car, didnt scratch anything. I guess I can call it a success.

Tim,

when the did the TSB, what exactly did they do to fix it? On mine all they did was peel apart the seal by the fixed window and stuff foamtape inside it (crappily I might add) and now the seal on the inside sticks out and it STILL whistles....UGgg!

BTW, they did order a new radio for me. They tried to convince me to let them give me a "free" 15K service (even though I am only at 12.8K and just recently changed my oil). Sorry guys (reference to Nissan) time to pay the piper and CORRECT your mistakes. Although I must say the SM was polite pretty much through the entire ordeal.

Cisco: well, not going to push it, but given what it's doing now, that would be the best thing. I'd rather it give up than continue on snapping my neck on shifts.

Colonel: I have no idea.. I cannot tell they did anything from inspecting the seal, it's just snug now around the window. No whistles from that area.

Not a bad choice. So you are going to get that before selling the Max?

Just depends....wifey loves the V70 and her bio-clock is getting damn near impossible to avoid....so it's time to have kids.

Either that, or mod/fix the Minima. Has a lot of little things that need addressing (I'm slipping in some real mods if we do this). It'll take 3 or 4 k to do it, so we're considering buying it and paying it off in a year when she 'retires'.

Saabs, yes, Volvos are for those concerned about their family.

Wifey doesn't like any Lexus but the GS400....and those aren't bigger/more useable than the Minima.

I've tried to get her thinking about the Acura MDX, but it's still a bit pricey......

I wounldn't allow the wifey any RWD car. Even though it would probably be okay, I wanted to leave that option to me (plus I didn't want to have two rwd only cars) You wouldn't be able to get jack into that GS, trunk it too small. The Volvo wagon would be nice because of the taller cargo hold. In fact, my next car might be an older 850T5R. But I don't know about another FWD car though. From all the Volvos I've seen, they are pretty well put together(paint and interior)

My wife will not be allowed to drive a turbo or RWD car. She loses concept of speed when driving....

Sprint would probably like her.

Yeah, we personally looked at that one pointed to in the link and have been waiting for it to go to "Last Chance" so the price would be as low as possible. I looked all over the front bumper and hood and not one paint chip. Then we we're going to the Minima and I about broke down and cried looking at the Super Chippy Black.....

Volvo turbos seem to be the main trouble spot. But, with everything, if you don't maintain and care for it, things go the hell in a handbasket quickly.
